The club has a proud record in both Lifesaving achievements and Surf Sports with its Junior and Senior members most recent achievements at State and National Titles leading the way in Country Queensland.
From humble beginnings at Alma Bay on Magnetic Island in 1928 to one of the biggest Surf Lifesaving clubs outside the south-east corner of the State, Arcadian Surf Lifesaving Club has come a long w ay. When Hume Willmett and Ken Gray and their mates got together to form the then Arcadian Lifesaving Club they would not have dreamed that the club would not only nowadays still patrol Alma Bay on Magnetic Island but also on the Strand on mainland Townsville. The club was formed by necessity by a hand full of mates after a fatal shark attack in Alma Bay, to today where the club has over 400 members both active and associate.

Hi everyone,
If you haven't met me yet my name is Samantha Akers. I was last
seasons Jupiter's Summer Surf Girl for Arcadian. Recently, I was involved in a Women's Surf Life Saving calendar which has now been published.
There have been two created; a Women's life saving 2012 calendar, featuring myself and 11 other women from clubs across Australia, and a 2012 Male's Bondi rescue calendar .
The calendars are $15 each and are raising money for our Arcadian SLSC and also the
children's hospital so grab one for yourself and all your family from Steve at
the club house !
